Globalairpower had the great oportunity to attend the joined operations between 71st Air Base from the Romanian Air Force in Câmpia Turzii AB, and the 123rd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
The Romanian Air Force 71st Air Base (Baza 71 Aeriană) is located near the town of Câmpia Turzii, in Cluj County.

The 71st Airbase was founded on 1 June 2002, according to the Romanian Armed Forces reorganization program. In January 2001, the unit received the first MIG-21 LanceR fighter planes , and the pilots started the transition to the new model. The base is home to the 711st, 712nd Fighter squadrons, operating MiG-21 LanceRs and to the 713rd, 714th Helicopter squadrons, operating IAR-330s. The Câmpia Turzii military airfield was built between 1952 and 1953.

Operation Atlantic Resolve, which includes conducting military exercises and training on land, in the air and at sea, while sustaining a rotational presence across Europe; and increase the responsiveness of U.S. forces to reinforce NATO by exploring initiatives such as prepositioning of equipment and enhancing reception facilities in Europe. The United States want to build the capacity of key partners to provide for their own defense and improve interoperability with NATO. The U.S. stands by its allies and partners, as they have stood by the USA.

Before the Operational deployment, members of the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing air advisor branch provide Romanian airmen at Campia Turzii the opportunity to learn about U.S. Air Force airfield management operations March 10 to 27 during Dacian Warhawk, a two-week training mission designed to increase the interoperability between the two nations.

About200 members of the Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing, 142nd Operations Group, 142nd Maintenance Group, and 142nd Mission Support Group deployed to Basa 71 Campia Turzii, Romania between Julys to October 2015.SInce the squadron arrival in march for Frisian flag , the 123rd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron is composed with the F-15C/D from Oregon ANG and Florida ANG. They are on a six-month deployment in Eastern Europe .
