Seoul ADEX is one of the world’s premier aerospace and defense technology events.
Encompassing all civil and military sectors of the international aerospace & ground support industry, Seoul ADEX is the foremost platform for companies to showcase their products and services in the region. A biennial air & defense show in Korea, it is the only event of its kind offering individuals with business interests in the region key opportunities to play a major role in one of the world’s fastest growing aerospace and defense markets in Eastern ASIA.
As expected ; 300 exhibitors from 30 countries would participate in the show. Attendees and visitors to the Seoul ADEX include foreign and Korean VIPs, government officials, senior company managers, and high-level executives involved in the aerospace and defense market in Korea and the rest of the region. Held in Seongnam AB ( or Seoul AB ) situated in the south east of Seoul center wich is also hosting the 15th Tactical Air Transport Wing of the RoKAF .
The wing is composed with the 2 transport squadrons equipped with C-130H / H-30 – we can also find a Training squadron with the single turboprop engine basic trainer KA-1 developed with indigenous technologies of AAD and KAI . The Presidential Flight equiped with Boeing 747-4B5 – B737-3Z8 – VH-60P and VCH-92 .Then the secretive 125th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron equiped with RC-800 [ Bae 125-800RA and Bae 125-800SIG ] The western part of the base is occupied by the local squadron described above . The Show itself is held on the othe side of the main runway .
As scheduled a very stong participation of US Forces was reported but for a European Enthusiast like me , the most intersting things went from the Korean side …. Almost every type of aircraft in the inventory were displayed . A strong badluck
led me to miss the massive flightpass just of a few minutes , due to the perturbation of the impressive road traffic in the suburbs of Seoul . The weather was not good as expected ; but correct .
I was really enjoyed by my stay in this country and hope to return soon .
